A Quick look back on 2008 and an eye on 09
Happy New Year to everybody!
I hope that the new years resolutions are going well, personally I’m succeeding in mine which is to make sure at least an hour a day is spent playing games….
So good bye to 2008 you shall be missed. For me personally the highlights included a Ski Trip to Chamonix with some of my best friends, two amazing Festivals in the shape of Download at Donnington Castle and Reading Festival.

Chamonix 2008
I spent the first 9 months of 2008 working and earning decent money without many financial burdens. I don’t know if I’ll ever be in the position of having as much disposable income ever again but I don’t think I have any regrets other then maybe not travelling to America as I’d hoped. But it’s the last three months of the year that have been by far the most enjoyable. I’ve learned so much at Falmouth and made so many great friends that 2008 will always stay with me.
Sticking with my own experiences of the year, I’d say my favourite movie had to be the Dark Knight whilst my favourite album came in the shape of an album released in 2007 but that I didn’t pick up till 2008, Fightstar with “One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours” Otherwise Fall Out Boys latest release looks like it might well be the best of 08 for me but I need to let it sink in a little more first. In terms of games? pick one from World of Warcraft, Pro Evolution Soccer and Football Manager
In the wider non wimbles world. Barrack Obama became the first African American President, the world economy went down the pan and the Olympic games were held in Beijing but you already knew all of that so I’m not going to launch into details and analysis of all that.
In sport the year was full of ups and downs as an British person who supports Reading Football Club. Reading suffered the heartbreak of relegation from the Premier League before the joys this season of fighting for promotion. Similarly the pains of the cricket and rugby teams were made easier by the return to form of the football team and the individual successes of Lewis Hamilton, Andy Murray and the amazing efforts of the Olympic team out in Beijing. We also saw an all English Champions League Final

I really could go on but I just wanted to give a few brief memories from 2008
So what ahead for 2009? Well hopefully I’ll produce a good MA project and graduate from Falmouth. Hopefully that’ll lead to a job although where that is I have no idea!
But for me, the year in sport is always of greater interest and more unpredictable. Reading to gain promotion would be nice, as would England winning back the Ashes in the cricket. England qualifying for the World Cup in 2010 would be another highlight. In baseball I’d like to see the Arizona Dimondbacks claim back the NL West and success for my own team the Thames Valley Bisons!
That’s a few hopes and dreams of mine coupled with some nostalgia but here’s to 2009 being a belter
I will be blogging again in the next day or so about the FA Cup so stay tuned.

Yesterday I was marking up my calendar trying to be more organised..l. and it was really quite off putting that past May I had absolutely nothing to write in.
In a way it’s scary, but surely it’s a good thing to have something to look forward to.. keeps life interesting!
